Maquette video game7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() Publisher Annapurna Interactive are on a roll of publishing touching stories wrapped up in all manner of indie games, from last year’s indie pop concept album of a game Sayonara Wild Hearts, to the recently ported story of a young woman’s first love in Florence. Or in the box, and likely in a smaller box that’s inside that box. Maquette Maquette is a first-person recursive puzzle game that takes you into a world where every building, plant, and object are simultaneously tiny and staggeringly huge. It’s not quite the first time we’ve seen this kind of puzzling in a video game – it’s a trick that we saw in VR game The Fisherman’s Tale at the start of 2019 – but it’s still a rather novel idea and trick to pull off in a game, and will require some real out of the box thinking. This allows for fun puzzles where you can manipulate the miniature world and have a real effect on the world that you’re standing in. Somehow, through all of this, you’ll be exploring the relationship of a young couple that’s falling in love, telling the tale of two people, Kenzie and Michael, their first meeting and some rather awkward flirting as they enter into a relationship. ![]() If you are worried about this, save right before pulling the lever and re-load you save if you fail.The game is based in a recursive world, that is to say a setting within which you can find a miniaturised version of itself, while also being encased in a gigantic version of itself. Make it into the timed door on your first pull of the lever. Run, Move, Run – In Chapter 7, The Exchange, the 2nd lever you pull will create many arches and require you to race across to a timed door on the other side. ![]() The concept behind the game is really interesting, because you can manipulate objects within a smaller ‘model world’ that will impact the objects in the larger ‘real world’. From start to finish, I completed the game in just over three hours. Into the Darkness – In Chapter 6, The Spiral, walk-off an edge/commits suicide. Now, when I say that Maquette is quick, I mean that in the most literal sense possible. Continue walking and enter the Dog House. Maquette also contains the most believable argument that Ive ever heard in a video game, to the point that Im convinced that whoever wrote it ended up. Maquette is a brand new game from Annapurna Interactive and Graceful Decay, out now on both of Sonys current consoles. Use the key and prop it on the diagonal of the mini-Castle, then walk up the diagonal key in the normal-Castle and jump over the wall.Ĭrew Creatures – In Chapter 3, Gateways, near the very end, after you’ve used the Red Sphere to break down the very large wall/barrier, walk as a tiny person to the Greenside, and go through a crack in the wall.
